Welcome to the TriQuarterly Online blog
A blog can be so many things: the tortured navel gazing of a teenager better left in a diary, the trenches of modern political and cultural warfare, a directory of links and photos and videos of cats playing the piano. Some people even think a blog can be literature. I don't intend for this blog to be any of those things (okay, maybe a little like that last example), but I do hope I can make it a place worth visiting.
This blog will feature guest posts from authors, faculty members, and students from the Northwestern MA/MFA program, but as blog editor I'll be manning the ship most of the time. I'm a writer and graduate of the Northwestern MA/MFA program, but I'm a computer geek at heart so my tastes run from the literary to the technical. Expect lots of posts about the future of writing and publishing--e-books, e-readers and such--but also about the art and craft of writing itself.
The best blogs create a community, a place less for passive consumption and more for active discussion, debate, and, quite often, disagreement. Please leave comments, ask questions, send tips, and tell me when I'm wrong. My goal is to generate all of this activity by posting links to articles and blog posts from around the online literary world, but if I can pull off any kind of audience participation I'll be happy. I look forward to hearing from all of you in the coming weeks and months as we continue the long tradition of the TriQuarterly magazine online.
