Creative celebrations

This Saturday, March 12, the Chicago Cultural Center hosts a free event, the 8th annual Creative Chicago Expo, targeted to individuals working in dance, music, film, fashion, theater, visual arts, literary arts, and design. Workshops run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The list is plentiful, but I’m particularly interested in “WordPress Websites for Performing and Visual Artists,” “Secrets of My Success: Pursuing an Art Career,” and “The Empowered Artist.” While you’re perusing the list, check out the Literary page on the same website, Chicago Artists Resource, and their aggregated calendar of events to engage and assist writers.

Today is International Women’s Day. View artwork and read stories submitted by women from around the globe. You may also be interested to read about Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s visit to Northwestern University Law School yesterday, covered in a nice piece in The Atlantic.
