on monday

Monday, January 15, 2024

we found humour like we must waking up from a bad dream telling ourselves my subconscious can’t be
that fucked i must’ve eaten something rotten or seen something broken where computers were speaking
and silencer guns were silencing through ambient city noises as people walked like they had never before.
somebody had stolen something or held a sign on the sidewalk. then there were sirens and trucks. the glint
of steel and the flash of God. drones perched like crown birds on top of trees because it was a monday
and they needed rest too.                                                                                      i know it was a monday
because i was more ant-like than usual and because it was the day schoolchildren could go on the swings
for thirty minutes. i know it was a monday because we had all woken up to do stuff and someone had died
and someone had sold stock and we were playing stapoo on the rubble. i know it was a monday because
the news and the weather were still stale making up their mind. i know it was a monday because a child
asked me the way to the swings and in return i asked for forgiveness.
