Bloomsday

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Today is Bloomsday, the annual celebration of James Joyce’s Ulysses. Here are some literary samplings to mark the date:

  • The Guardian commemorates June 16 with sixteen questions to test your savvy on all things Joyce. And their Books Blog follows Bloomsday from Zurich to New Orleans to all over the Twitterverse.
  • Publishers Weekly’s blog notes how technology has made the “greatest literary achievement of the 20th century” accessible to commoners like us.
  • Luna Park presents the original serialization of the novel by Margaret Anderson in her magazine The Little Review from 1918-1920, where it eventually met with censorship and seizure.

Let us know how you plan to commemorate the day if you care to leave a comment. Cheers!
