John D. Scott

John D. Scott has won multiple awards and glowing reviews as an independent filmmaker. He directed Scouts Are Cancelled (2007), a critically acclaimed feature-length documentary about poet John Stiles, as well as many well-traveled short films. Currently Scott is developing a long-form documentary on poet Elizabeth Bishop. “First Death in Nova Scotia” is the latest of these adaptations; feel free to respond to the work at the First Death Facebook page. Currently Scott is an associate professor in the Media Arts Sciences and Studies Department at Ithaca College, and he is slated to direct an adaptation of Bishop’s “In the Waiting Room” early in 2013.
